Rosana Empowerment Foundation Concludes “I AM A GIRL” Programme on International Day of the Girl Child

Rosana Empowerment Foundation (REF) marked the International Day of the Girl Child with a vibrant one-day program at its office in Birshi Gandu, Bauchi State, Nigeria. The event, titled “I AM A GIRL,” aimed to empower girls by advocating for equal opportunities, showcasing their talents, and raising awareness about violence against women and girls (VAWG).

Event Highlights:

Participants: The celebration attracted active participation from three different schools: Narrow Way Academy, Rafin Zurfi; Prince of Peace Nursery/Primary School, Birshi Gandu; and Abisha International School, Birshi Gandu.

Opening: Mal. Salisu Adamu Birshi, the Programme Assistant of REF, welcomed the participants and initiated the event with an individual prayer, respecting the diverse faiths represented.

Keynote Address: Ambassador Ejiogu Vitus Chibueze, the Executive Director of REF, delivered a keynote address emphasizing REF’s commitment to empowering women, children, and youth for inclusive development.

Sensitization Issues: The Executive Director highlighted ongoing skills acquisition training for women, scholarship opportunities for indigent girls, and REF’s plans to ensure every school-aged girl child is enrolled through community projects.

Health Education: Mrs. Gloria Chinwe Ezeaku, a senior health worker at the Federal Polytechnic Clinic, Bauchi, addressed Sexual and Reproductive Health (SRH) issues.

Cap the Girl Competition: Participating schools engaged in a cap-making craft competition, won by Prince of Peace Nursery/Primary School, Birshi Gandu.

Gifts and Refreshments: REF presented gifts, including exercise books and pens, to participating schools. The foundation also provided light refreshments.

Certificates of Participation: Deserving participants received certificates to recognize their engagement.

Acknowledgments and Prayers: The event featured expressions of gratitude from school representatives and prayers for REF’s continued success in their impactful endeavours.

Closing Remarks: Mr. Salisu Adamu Birshi, the Programme Coordinator, expressed appreciation for the participants and urged continued collaboration and support.
